Brian's removal totally wrong
Thursday, 9 February 2012
I wish to express my disappointment, or more accurately my disgust, at the removal of Brian McLaughlin as head coach by Ulster Rugby.
David Humphreys was unable to justify the decision during the press conference called to confirm it, because he can't.
During his time in charge, Brian McLaughlin has produced great improvement in Ulster's rugby and there is no reason to suggest that this progress would not be maintained if he continued.
What is a 'big name' appointment going to do which Brian could not? If anything, Ulster is likely to go backwards. Remember Matt Williams?
At this time, the most urgent task is to find a good out-half. David Humphreys would be better employed finding a replacement for his brother, Ian.
I am considering whether I will renew my season ticket.
