Brolly was right to rain on GAA's deal with Sky

I WOULD like to sincerely thank Joe Brolly for so eloquently articulating the unfortunate predicament of the 10,000 patients in hospitals all over Ireland who were excluded from viewing the football quarter-finals on the Saturday before last.

Earlier this year I was so incensed when the GAA decided to do a deal with Sky Sports that I wrote a letter to Croke Park.

In that letter I stated the reasons why I think it's a bad move, including the plight of the elderly in nursing homes and hospitals.

The response I got was less than sympathetic to my concerns.

It is obviously a purely business/financial decision, although I had always thought the focus of the GAA was on culture, sport and communities.

Well done, Joe Brolly.
