The Irish World Cup effort has been an abject failure.

Losses to France and Argentina in Paris can always be excused by the fans.

But the performances against Namibia and Georgia cannot be so easily overlooked by the keen followers of the game.

Eddie O'Sullivan ought not to be the arbiter of his future as Ireland's coach.
