Calais camp is a real conundrum

Published 04/03/2016

French authorities have finally moved against the migrant camp in Calais.

Two things puzzle me about the people living there. First, if they are genuine refugees/asylum seekers, why not take asylum in safe and secure France?

Second, what are the French authorities doing about the unaccompanied children we are told are in the camp?

Can you imagine the outcry and protests from ordinary citizens in the UK if children were living in those conditions on UK soil?
