Capitalism and normality

Published 23/06/2010

Hamish McRae tells us (June 21) that ‘we' will soon be back to ‘normality', which he then proclaims as ‘sustainable finances'.

But capitalism cannot function without periodic crises. When these occur there are gains and losses for the gamblers, but only loss for the class that produces all real wealth.

Need exists alongside the potential to cater for that need.

The missing factor in capitalism's wealth-producing equation is the promise of profit. Surely it’s time for the working class to dump this flawed social system into the dustbin of history.
