Cardinal in no position to talk

Published 03/01/2011

Regarding the comments by Cardinal Sean Brady about the question of abortion, sadly he has not shown an aptitude for reflecting on "profound moral and legal issues".

This fact is commonly known because of the information he had, and held secret, of the sexual attacks on children.

The record does not show any evidence of moral concern and deep reflection about the welfare of those who placed their trust in the church.

He is not a suitable moral leader by virtue of the choices he has made and it is naive to expect that someone as morally tone deaf, so to speak, is suitable to represent Catholics in this country.
