Charity auction a big hit" >
Letters to the editor should be sent to: 124-144 Royal Avenue, Belfast BT1 1EB. E-mail:

Stephen Rogan and myself wish to thank all the people involved in the fund-raising efforts for the charity Revive.

Almost £9,000 was raised for the intensive care unit in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital. Around £4,000 of this sum was raised during an auction in June, with one generous benefactor paying £1,000 for a cricket bat signed by the First and Deputy First Ministers.

My father, Clyde, spent several weeks in the intensive care unit at the Royal in 2002-2003 before his death.

We then decided to organise the charity event to raise funds as a thank you to the medical staff who looked after my father.

Revive was set up in 1989 to help provide improved experience for patients admitted to the ICU at the Royal and to improve the facilities and surroundings for patients, relatives and staff.

Thanks to all who helped.
