Chief Constable failed to get his priorities right

I WELCOME the news that Matt Baggott is leaving the PSNI (News, January 23).

He completely missed the mark in dealing with parades. His handling of the flag protests was shambolic and he gave poor leadership.

His calls for community-based policing were never serious, as he has overseen the closure of many local police stations.

Under his leadership, a large section of the unionist community has lost all faith in the police – something his successor will have to work hard to regain. He never got his priorities right.
