Child abuse scandal was Ireland’s nightmare from hell

Wednesday’s publication of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse reflects Ireland’s shameful holocaust.

The generals and the captains of the Department of Education and the Irish Catholic Church stood by and allowed our national nightmare from hell to happen.

This was our Nuremberg trial, Irish-style, with no names, no prosecution and no court appearances.

In a statement on the RTE Six One News, the Irish Christian Brothers expressed their sorrow and will now co-operate with the authorities.

It was the same Christian Brothers that sued the commission in 2004 to keep the identities of its members, dead or alive, unnamed in the report.

Justice has not been done as many of the abusers will never face the rigours of the law.

Shame on those that inflicted sheer cruelty, neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse that was perpetrated against Ireland’s children.

Lets us insist, as a caring people, that we never allow this to happen again.
