Chipping away at our identity

I REFER to the article in last week's Belfast Telegraph regarding NI chip shops being barred from a UK top chip award. I don't think anybody should be surprised at this snub, and indeed it is just the latest in a long list of GB snubs towards Northern Ireland.

Many retail establishments refuse to accept our money, BBC Radio 5 Live cannot find 20 seconds to read out the six Irish League football results, the British Olympic team is branded as Team GB rather than Team UK and two of the major political parties refuse to stand for elections in Northern Ireland.

How much more evidence do unionists and loyalists need before they realise that many people in GB could not care less about Northern Ireland and probably want nothing to do with us.

It is time to have a serious and sensible debate on Northern Irish independence.
