Christians who denounce Pride are misguided

Published 05/08/2015

What pleased me about Belfast Pride was that many people who are not part of the LGBT community chose to join in and make a positive statement, saying that we are all equal and all deserve to be celebrated.

However, as a Christian who believes fully in the love of God for all humanity, I feel shame in what a small section of Christians do in God's name to the LGBT community by saying he is excluding them.

I do not know if this is down to bad theology, prejudice, or just being misguided, but the impact is profound to those who took part in the Pride march.

Please think about what you are saying. I recently spoke to a man who said he knew he was born the way he was, but, because of Christians, he is convinced he is condemned to hell from birth. Is this the message we want to give? That's not the love of God in action.
