Christians will defy assaults
Wednesday, 6 August 2008
I am writing to let the Northern Ireland public know about yet more attacks on Christians during the yearly Gay Pride parade held in Belfast.
Two peaceful Christians, who were protesting on the sidelines, and being ‘protected’ by officers of the PSNI, were assaulted during Saturday’s parade.
One had his placard, with a Scripture quotation written on it, pulled from him by a marcher.
Another member of the parade then came and ripped pages out of the other Christian protester's Bible which he was holding.
We were told by the Parades Commission that this level of behaviour was unacceptable after last year’s attacks.
However, the attacks still continue without any intervention by the PSNI and it seems that Christians have no rights whatsoever in this land to stand for what they believe in.
Our Sovereign God was disrespected last year with a blasphemous banner and this year the Scriptures were defiled on the public highway.
It seems we are walked over without the raising of an eyebrow.
I would ask members of the PSNI, who witnessed these attacks and who turned a blind eye to this assault on law-abiding Christians, why these attacks are allowed to continue on Christians without intervention?
Will we be free to stand peacefully on the streets in the future?
No matter the cost, be assured that we'll stand.
