Church doctrine abandoned for simple flubber

Published 09/02/2016

The Rev Frank Sellar is fast proving himself a disappointment, according to the interview in the Belfast Telegraph (News, February 5). Moralistic, therapeutic deism is promoted as gospel radicalism.

Firstly, the "some of my best friends" argument is wholly pretentious and irrelevant to determining morality. Secondly, his equally pretentious "we need more women" plea is fallacious when determining church principles. Thirdly, his swipe at recent court cases advances nothing.

Sellar claimed "gospel radicalism" turns out to be the old liberal pecksniffery which Irish Presbyterians were claiming was becoming redundant.

Here we see it overwhelmingly endorsed.

Effectively, the Westminster Standards have been abandoned for flubber.
