Clegg's Church call pandering to other faiths
ONE can't but suspect that Nick Clegg's recent advocacy of the separation of Church and State is a conciliatory gesture to the increasing numbers of other faiths in the country.
Perhaps he foresees possible danger ahead if Christianity continues to be seen as the recipient of privileges which the incoming faiths are denied?
It would, indeed, be ironic if this much-needed reform were to be achieved through deference to other faiths, when the rational appeals of non-believers have been denied for centuries.
