Communion between God and science
Monday, 8 September 2008
Immediately after Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon in 1969 and his ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for Mankind’ speech, his colleague Buzz Aldrin celebrated Holy Communion in the landing craft.
Buzz, after whom the toy Buzz Lightyear is named, asked Mission Control for silence.
Then, to mark this historic moment, he took Holy Communion which had been prepared for him in advance by his church.
The first bread consumed on the moon and the first wine drunk there were the elements of Holy Communion.
This symbolic act was deliberate.
The astronaut was sending the world the message that Christian belief and science are in harmony.
He was at the cutting edge of science and yet, at the same time, a believer in God and a church-goer.
Science merely tells us how God makes things work. The Bible on the other hand, tells us why we are here.
Many people imagine that science and religious belief are incompatible, but in reality, across the world, millions of scientists believe in God.
These people see scientific discoveries as proof the universe has been designed by a Supreme Intelligence.
Science shows that the nucleus of every cell in the human body contains as much data as that found in a 30-volume encyclopedia. Such complexity cannot have happened by chance and is clear evidence of the existence of a Creator God.
Sadly, whenever reference is made to science and religious belief in the British media, it is done so assuming that there is conflict between the two.
In reality, many scientists believe in God precisely because of their scientific studies and see true science as the friend of religious belief.
With this fact rarely mentioned, it is no wonder that the UK is one of the few places in the world where church attendance is declining.

John 14:6 Jesus said - I am the Way. the Truth and the Life.
God created us with a free will, He desires that we accept His way of Salvation, believe the Truth that 'Christ died for our us' and receive the eternal Live that He offers.
True science is found in the pages of the bible, our sinful nature wishes to live with out God and many try their best to destroy the truth, the old saying the truth hurts is true! each one of us are accountable to God even the atheist!

Dear Rev J.Williams,
Thank you for your wise writing.
Please educate me, as to why some famous scientists are so arrogant and determined to replace God.
Their reasonings:-why they cannot figure out that, they themselves cannot agree among themselves with their study result of different subjects.
Some scientist became famous, wealthy and immortal with the results of their resarch subjects at a particular period., then after sometimes other scientists disagree with the former results and claim that previous scientific results were wrong. The new research results were found.
I wish Icould secure a face to face chat with you.
Surely, some scientists are responsible for causing human misries and destructions with their many inventions.
Example:- Atomic bombs, Weapon of mass destructions, Gases to kill innocent people.
I look forward to hear from you.
Regards and thank you.

Perhaps the "God creating the Earth and the Universe" idea is just a story to tell very young children, but as we grow up and think things out for ourselves we ought to realise how sparse is the arguement in favour of it.

I would love to know why God enabled a world where so much confusion would arise - inevitably? If he created the Earth, and the universe, then why is it that extremely clever people like Richard Dawkins - amongst many others - be convinced otherwise?
And why, when composing the Bible - aware of the impending knowledge that would be revealed to mankind about this world and its origin through vigorous scientific research - did God simply not makes some unquestionable facts clear in the book of Genesis that would clarify any doubt from future studies altogether? Why let confusion arise? If God is real, then why couldn't he do this? Wouldn't it lead to a lot more coming to him?
Please answer this someone as its driving me mad
