Condemnation of murders in Cavan

Published 08/09/2016

I wanted to express my admiration for the article written by Suzanne Breen in your paper (September 6).

Her condemnation of the cowardly murders of his entire family by a man who other sections of the press are attempting to 'understand' was the best thing I have read for a long time.

I have felt moved to tears when thinking about the horror that this person's wife and small children went through in their final hours and cannot comprehend why his actions are not more universally condemned.

Please pass on my thanks to her for writing something that counters the nonsense printed elsewhere about what a wonderful man he was. He was a cowardly woman and child murderer. As Suzanne states, if he had murdered a woman and three children who were strangers to him, nobody would have thought it appropriate to publish details of what a wonderful man he was in the years leading up to the murders.

Thank you, Suzanne.
