Confusion with trade unions

The Minister of Finance and Personnel (Sammy Wilson) told the Assembly on September 28 that "My officials and I have now made a proposal to the trade unions. Having looked at the proposal, their response was that they wish to discuss certain issues" (in relation to the ongoing saga of equal pay for junior civil servants).

Meanwhile, a NIPSA circular on October 1 stated that: "We absolutely assure members that the union has not received an offer or proposals for settlement of the equal pay claims."

Either the House or NIPSA's membership is being misled.

I think we should be told.
