Consumer Council can help out with your grievances

The article in the Belfast Telegraph, 'Money Matters: Don't suffer in silence, make a complaint' (Business, February 23), made some very good points about consumers' reluctance to complain about poor service.

The Consumer Council provides a dedicated service for Northern Ireland consumers to help resolve their complaints about a range of services, including electricity, natural gas, coal, water, public transport and postal services.

We have the legal power to act on your behalf and investigate your complaint. We will do that with tenacity and vigour.

Since April last year, we have returned more than £528,000 to domestic consumers' pockets and £94,000 to businesses.

We'll also give you advice on how to make your complaint, or take your complaint further. If you're not satisfied with the answer, or are getting nowhere with the company, we can step in and seek resolution, or compensation for you.
