Convince unionists of special status benefit
To win support from sceptical unionists for Northern Ireland being granted special status within the European Union, it would be enormously helpful if real benefits could be demonstrated.
Specifically, if international banks relocating operations to Belfast enjoyed passporting rights to compete for EU business, this could bring much-needed quality jobs.
A dialogue between interested parties to explore what is acceptable to the EU and attractive to providers of financial services could be very fruitful.
