Crime agency above board on Nama row

Published 22/09/2016

I write in response to your article of September 15, 2016, regarding our investigation into allegations relating to the sale of the National Asset Management Agency's Northern Ireland loan portfolio and reported comments that the National Crime Agency has "side-stepped" requests to provide an update to the Assembly's finance committee.

Contrary to the comments reported, the finance committee was provided with a briefing on both March 2 and July 11 this year.

Given that our criminal investigation is active and ongoing, the briefings were provided on a confidential basis.

I shall continue to provide briefings at appropriate points and to respond to inquiries from the committee within operational and legal constraints.
