Dalai Lama can influence Burma

Reading your article about the Dalai Lama's visit to Derry\Londonderry (News, April 18), given that he is an important Buddhist leader, it is essential that he uses his influence to stop the state-backed ethnic cleansing and violence directed at the minority Muslim Rohingyas by Buddhist extremists in Burma.

Amnesty International has documented cases of rape and killing. Only last week, 13 Muslim children were burned alive in their school.

Dead bodies of murdered Muslim women, men and children were found in the sewage system. This cruelty must stop.
