Debate rages over Israel's 'democracy'
David Morrison (Write Back, August 6) is correct in stating that Israel is not democratic because of who can or cannot vote in the country.
However, the state is also undemocratic in the wider sense. Walling a minority in, making it difficult for them to move about, and demolishing the minority's houses so the majority community can live there: not the actions of a democratic country. The dictionary definition of democratic is 'based on the principle that all members of society are equal'.
