Deplorable admission by Assembly minister
The documentary Breakout (BBC1, September 22) in which senior IRA members were interviewed about the 1983 Maze escape, was revealing and engaging.
However, I was shocked to see that Gerry Kelly, a minister within the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister, outline how he shot a prison officer at point blank range in the head during the escape bid. He showed no remorse. In fact, he chuckled and made little of the criminality he was involved in.
While this is deplorable, it is equally concerning that the DUP in general, and my MP, Jeffrey Donaldson, in particular, continue to participate as joint partners in government. They are unrepentant terrorists, unfit to hold any Government post.
