Did Orange Order invite President?

It was one year ago that the grand master Edward Stevenson, speaking at Rossnowlagh, said: "I publicly invite the President of the Republic of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, to join us... next year."

I am sure that inquisitive people like myself would like to know the answer to three questions: Was there an official request submitted to Aras an Uachtarain? When was such a request sent? And what was the response to the request?
