Discrimination an urban myth

Published 30/01/2013

Eamonn McCann's urban myth that Derry's housing was allocated from the mayor's bowler hat (Comment, January 17) begs the question: why was it not returned to the lodge whence it came?

It was clearly an inefficient means of discrimination, given that 71% of social housing was occupied by Catholics in 1965. Another McCann myth is housing association rents are higher, because they borrow from the banks.
