LAST week's D-Day ceremonies in France recounted the ultimate price paid by Allied soldiers and French civilians at the start of the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny. It is fitting that we all remember their sacrifice – now and in the future.
We should also remember that Sinn Fein collaborated with Hitler, sent Sean Russell as an "ambassador" to his Third Reich and lobbied him to invade Ireland.
In such an event, they and their IRA wing would have helped the SS round up Jews and others they had singled out for "special treatment".
Far from being deeply ashamed of this, they erected a statue to Russell in 1948 in Dublin and showed their real appreciation of Allied sacrifice by the slaughter at the Enniskillen War Memorial in 1987.
