Don't judge new mothers

SOMEONE has finally put into words, eloquently, why breastfeeding pressure is unbearably cruel.

We "horrible, selfish, unloving" mothers who choose not to self-harm every three hours, need a voice. Not everyone can breastfeed; good on you if you can, but please – no gloating.

There is no – and I mean no – evidence of a brighter baby, or child, with breast milk. The results are heavily skewed by the middle-class bias of breastfeeding.

New mums are terribly vulnerable: help us, don't judge us. Grace Dent, thank you for your article.
