Doubts over the UVF's ceasefire

Published 07/06/2010

The murder of Bobby Moffett on the Shankill Road has led directly to the resignation of Dawn Purvis as leader and member of the Progressive Unionist Party.

She stated that the PUP "was severely restricted because of its relationship with the Ulster Volunteer Force".

The PUP has had close political links with the UVF for decades and would therefore have been fully aware of their unscrupulous murderous capabilities.

If ever there were any doubts within the public domain as to who was responsible for this murder, then Dawn Purvis' resignation should surely dispel those doubts - actions speak louder than words. It calls into question the validity of the UVF ceasefire.
