Drugs ban just wouldn't work

RE your editorial 'Time to get tough on death dealers' (Comment, July 3).

Governments have been trying to 'get tough' on drug dealers for a couple of centuries now, with no sign of success.

It is quite impossible for a democratic state to stop its citizens using this or that drug by making those drugs illegal. It is impossible.

America tried prohibiting alcohol once and we all know how that worked out.

When are supposedly intelligent people going to finally figure things out?
