DUP should lift education veto
In REPLY to Clive Kirkwood (Write Back, March 28), he states the DUP must set out its stall to undo the 'mess' created by Caitriona Ruane. He talks about the underachievement, in particular, of Protestant boys, as if this has occurred under Ms Ruane's watch.
Not only did Ms Ruane not create what Mr Kirkwood terms the 'mess', but she has brought forward alternative proposals to address this issue. The 'mess' is the present system that has failed our children - especially those from working-class areas.
So, rather than calling for the DUP to return education to the system that has failed our children, Clive would be better calling on them to lift the veto over educational advancement.
