Education key to Middle East issue

I was born and brought up in Belfast. I came to live in Israel 10 years after its official recognition and have lived through on-going war, threats and terror attacks.
Once Israel was regarded as the underdog and had world backing and sympathy when we faced the armies of the surrounding countries in 1967 and again in 1973 and emerged victorious.
But now, when we have proved our determination and strength, those who have been educated to dislike Jews are banded together with strong backing from fundamental Islamists to bring anti-semitic sentiments to the fore.
Many such people are uninformed of the history of the Jewish people. If more funds were devoted towards education and improvement of living standards, instead of to hatred and fighting, we could begin to see a better world.
