Election our chance to dump incapable MPs
William Moffat and JPR Taylor (Write Back, April 24) are correct in their views that career politicians, particularly those in the DUP, have consistently failed their constituents.
Strangford and East Belfast are just two examples needing urgent inward investment to improve their declining local economies.
The DUP and UUP are really just Tories, as William Moffat says. They do not understand the issues facing low-income families.
Another DUP fiefdom is Lagan Valley, which, oddly, keeps on returning the same DUP MP,despite not delivering real change. The John Lewis planning debacle, which cost Lisburn over 2,000 jobs, is another example of political failure.
The general election on June 8 is a real opportunity for the electorate to voice their anger and bring about a political sea-change in NI.
Complacent politicians should no longer be returned to safe seats; they should be judged on deliverables alone - something which they have not had to do to ensure their survival.
