Enlighten me on this waste
As you know from that wonderful Government information advert 'we all have the power to save at our fingertips - and help the environment'.
So why is it that Government buildings, schools, large retail outlets and city centre shops are all ablaze with lights during the wee small hours?
Are the lights left on so that robbers and vandals do not injure themselves and sue when they trip in the dark? Or is it just to look pretty? Wasteful bright lights at night do not happen in Europe: there, you have to carry a torch in the absence of even street lights! Anyway, there must be some 'good' reason for it - but it beats me what it is.
