EU migrant crisis needs firm action

Published 05/08/2015

The events in Calais are just the beginning of a mass movement by people from poor countries.

Europe's political leaders must decide what they want. Allowing one person to stay encourages more to risk their lives.

Virtually all the migrants are economic migrants abusing the asylum system. We have to either allow all migrants in or say "Stop", harsh as that may seem.

There needs to be a UN conference on the issue, making each government responsible for its citizens, and all illegal migrants must be deported.

The UN must prepare a list of rogue states and make it a legal requirement for all genuine asylum seekers to go to a neighbouring country on their continent.

Either we live in law-abiding societies or we have anarchy and the collapse of society.
