Europeans deal with terror the right way
It's interesting to see how the police in countries such as France, Germany, Belgium and America deal with terrorism.
Events of late have shown that security forces in those countries don't hesitate to shoot to kill when it comes to keeping citizens safe.
How different that would be in Northern Ireland. Imagine the outcry there would be if, say, two dissident republican terrorists had just murdered someone and were shot dead by police.
A terrorist is a terrorist. The law-abiding public of the free world would expect no less from their security forces.
Yet here we have the absurd rules that, even if a police officer draws his baton, a report has to be submitted to the Police Ombudsman to see if there has been a breach of discipline.
I have no doubt that the citizens of mainland Europe feel a lot safer and have full support of their security forces.
