Just who are these people who, under the guise of gender equality, have introduced a law to penalise law-abiding female teenage drivers with motor insurance premiums designed to bring them on a par with male teenage drivers? (News, December 22).
Car insurance (like the principle of any insurance) is guided by the risk factor. The political imbeciles who concocted this new European law must be aware of this.
According to statistics, male teenage drivers are 25 times more likely than female teenage drivers to commit a motoring offence - speeding and accidents being highest on their list.
This new law persecutes female teenagers who have committed no crime, but have proved themselves worthy citizens by being able to afford to run a car at their age (more than I ever achieved).
If ever David Cameron needed any more encouragement to dump this European farce of so-called 'democracy', then this should be the issue to make his mind up before other law-abiding citizens are similarly stigmatised.
