Eyes on South Africa blind to starving in Niger

Published 02/08/2010

I wish to highlight the worst food shortage to grip Niger in five years.

Last month all eyes were on South Africa's World Cup, but just 5000km north, seven million people in Niger were starving. Now, nearly half a million children are at risk of death if they are not treated urgently. Just £1.25 will buy milk for one day for a severely malnourished child and £50 can support and treat a child with severe malnutrition. Please publicise the food crisis as the more people know what's happening , the more money we can raise and the more children can be saved.
