FIFA chief Blatter has to face gay issue

Sepp Blatter recently suggested that gay football fans should practise chastity if they attend the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 to support their team.

Mr Blatter remains conspicuously silent on the fate of gay soccer players who might also play in the tournament in Qatar.

It is likely that dozens of gay men will participate in the World Cup, keeping secret their sexuality. This secrecy is not confined to Qatar, but exists in every professional league in the world.

As FIFA president, Mr Blatter must show positive leadership. His joking shows that he isn't even capable of decorum on the issue.
