COMPARING the Assembly to being like a 'mini-theocracy' in her shopping list of things denied to the Northern Ireland people, Fionola Meredith (News, April 24) states quite flippantly that "you can't get an abortion" here.
The right to life is the most basic of human rights and the law should seek to uphold this right, as human life begins at conception. Ms Meredith's assertion... is actually not accurate. Abortion is available when the mother's life is at risk and when there is a grave threat to the mother's physical or mental, health.
