It is regrettable that the Health Minister has decided to penalise the vulnerable in his cost-cutting exercise by introducing hospital car parking charges.
This is the lowest of the low. Sick people (especially long-term patients) have enough to worry about and they need all the visitors they can get. These draconian measures ensure they will now not even have that comfort.
Mr McGimpsey - the obvious way to save money and make the system more efficient would have been to fire some of the managers with which the NHS is top-heavy.
Replace them with more useful staff - like nurses and cleaners. Leave the public alone as they have enough to contend with, such as MRSA and medical blunders every time they set foot in a hospital.
Don't make it any worse.
