Fishing jobs move a boost for town

Published 11/06/2015

I would like to welcome the relocation of more than 50 civil servants from the fisheries division of DARD from the Stormont Estate to the Downshire Civic Centre in Downpatrick, which is now becoming a major employment hub.

This relocation will also greatly benefit and assist our local fishing industries based at Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie, which have operated under very difficult times over recent years.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is committed to helping to attract jobs to this region.

The decentralisation of public sector jobs from Belfast to Downpatrick will not only help the local economy, but will also further attract other public sector jobs to Downpatrick.
