Fit vehicles with a speed limiter

Published 14/04/2016

I agree with Colin Martin Breen (Online, April 12), but would go one step further and have all vehicles speed governor-fitted.

In this highly technical age, with mobiles that can perform almost any type of entertainment, we have devices which can track aircraft and ships. We have sat navs which can pinpoint our positions. We are working on automatic cars, which I'm pretty sure will not break any speed limits.

So why can't we control all vehicles speed-wise? The technology is there - let's for once put it to good use.

I'm sure the police would be only too pleased as it would free up some of their time.

Police and emergency vehicles, of course, would be exempt from this.
