Fitting tribute to one of our musical giants

Published 04/07/2016

Thank you for your excellent obituary and coverage of the funeral of musician/composer Henry McCullough (News, June 15/20). It certainly marked him out as being an important cultural figure in Ireland - and, indeed, in Britain.

To many of us, he was an icon, a representative of that golden generation of Irish musicians that included Van, Philip and Rory and that gave, in the face of aggressive opposition, a voice to a whole generation.

They also founded an industry that has been impressively successful and made a number of its representatives easily the most recognised Irish people in the world.
