Flooding is a real problem

Ian McClean's notion (Write Back, May 25) that worldwide flood stories are attributable to corrupted memories of Noah's one is less tenable than ascribing such stories to events in the Black Sea.

Aboriginal and Native American flood stories bear scant resemblance to the Biblical one and clearly arose independently.
