Fond memories of Opera House

Published 23/07/2015

I was extremely interested in the article about the Grand Opera House (Life, July 21) and I am glad to know those sensible people in management are contemplating a sympathetic restoration.

One performance I attended many years ago was that of Lena Horne and it remains a memorable experience. This petite lady, dressed in a pale gold gown, held the audience in the palm of her hand for almost two hours.

Such artists are a rarity and didn't command the ridiculous fees of some of today's "celebrities".
