As someone in their fifties, I have never been out of work, I have behaved responsibly, and paid sensible amounts from a early age into pension funds.
My own scenario is that a once-promised amount of c. £15,000 per annum has shrunk to £4,000 when I reach 65.
How dare Hamish McRae (Comment, May 6) say in such a crude manner that people are not self-disciplined enough. I was hard-working when I was younger and still am. Unfortunately, I have no pension worth talking about now.
Self-disciplined probably wasn't the correct attitude to have.
