Gas boss lives the high life

I WAS interested to read James Wilgar's letter about his gas bill (Write Back, March 24).

My supplier is Phoenix Gas, whose ultimate owner is private equity conglomerate Terra Firma.

Chief executive, Guy Hands, is a UK tax exile now firmly ensconced in Guernsey.

Mr Hands is 'famous' for having to write off £1.7bn of his £4bn purchase of the EMI group.

Perhaps when Terra Firma returns to financial health, Phoenix Gas might also be able to invest in billing that does not require an advanced mathematical ability.
