Giving status to the ludicrous is poor reporting

Trevor Ramsey claims that "good journalism is about stimulating healthy debate" on the subject of creationism.

Good journalism is about accurate reporting. Presenting young earth creationism as an equally valid alternative to thousands of years' worth of accumulated scientific knowledge is not accurate reporting.

The 'equal status to uninformed fringe viewpoints' doctrine is a scourge of modern journalism. The overwhelming mountain of evidence supporting evolution by natural selection is so incontrovertible that even the Catholic Church no longer disputes it.
