Giving women choice shows compassion

Published 19/10/2012

Being pro-choice does not make me or anyone else that I know of pro-abortion. Some of the statements from so called “pro-life” supporters that I have heard and read in the last few days have sounded almost demonic.

In a perfect world I am sure no one would ever contemplate termination of pregnancy, but we are human beings and mistakes and accidents, physical and mental problems can and do happen, and it is then that we can choose to show compassion and tolerance.

Being pro-choice means I trust and respect the individual to make the right choice for herself in particular circumstances and not to be overruled by anyone wearing the authority of government or religious doctrine in any regard.
