Haass proposals accept terror

THE Haass proposals basically ask us to assent to the idea that it is acceptable for a terrorist group to use violence against a democratic country.

What precedent will this set for Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom and the wider world?

We already know that there are links between the IRA, Hamas and other Middle Eastern groups.

They will be able to hold Northern Ireland – and the United Kingdom – to ransom.

I ask the politicians, who are apparently seriously considering this dangerous principle: just what do you hope to gain by it?
